Joint Commission Public Notice
Monroe County Medical Center is fully accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC).
That means we voluntarily submit to evaluations of our compliance with nationwide hospital standards on a continuing basis.
The Joint Commission accreditation is your assurance that Monroe County Medical Center practices continuous quality monitoring to provide you with quality health care.
TJC evaluates and accredits more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.
An independent, not-for-profit organization, TJC is the nation's pre-eminent standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
Since 1951, TJC has maintained standards that focus on improving the quality and safety of the care health care organizations provide.
The TJC's comprehensive accreditation process evaluates an organization's compliance with these standards and other requirements.
The Joint Commission accreditation is recognized internationally as a symbol of quality that reflects an
organization's commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
To earn and maintain the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval,
an organization undergoes an unannounced onsite survey by a Joint Commission survey team at least every (3) years;
the laboratory is surveyed every (2) years.
In that regard, if you have any concerns about patient care or safety that the hospital,
medical practice or laboratory have not addressed, we encourage you to contact our Compliance Officer at (270) 487-9231 ext. 1190.
You can voice your concerns or make requests without fear of coercion, discrimination, reprisal, or unreasonable interruption of care for having done so.
If your concern is not resolved within a reasonable time, you may contact the Joint Commission Office of
Quality Monitoring by calling (800) 994-6610 or e-mailing: complaint@jointcommission.org.
